Updated Commercial Rates from 1st September
See Main TV Drama page for the latest info.
The TV Drama agreement was in place between December 2017 and August 2022, with the intention to meet with Pact at least every 2 years to discuss revisions. 2019 talks were delayed under the understanding that the other departments needed to fix agreed rates, but those talks stalled.
We were hoping to re-start T&Cs review talks in 2020, but for obvious reasons, that plan was overshadowed by the much greater issues that came out of the Covid-19 Pandemic, and despite trying to reach a consensus on updated agreed terms throughout , due to PACTs lack of commitment, reps were forced to instruct BECTU to serve notice on the agreement in March 2022
In signing a contract, it provides evidence that you understand and agree the terms highlighted in it and overrules verbal agreements.
We are hearing that LPs, UPMs PMs are saying things like " you can sign it, that bit doesn't apply to you". If it doesn't apply, there should be no issue in removing it from your contract.
It is impossible to fight against a signed contract, your signature pre-approves that it "DOES apply to you"
Additionally, by accepting these contracts now, it sets a precedent in writing which could be used when trying to gain better, or even just retain current terms, in the future
Please get in contact via the Branch Mobile or Email if you have any further queries
including Semi-Continuous Working Day (SCWD)
including ending contracts with hours owing
The agreement has now been in place for over 4 years, but it was intended to be reviewed every 2 years.
We have informed PACT that we are ready to revisit the agreement to discuss what is, and isn't working, what stays and what needs adding/removing. We will soon be running branch wide consultations on all aspects of the T&Cs agreement to use during the negotiations with PACT, including the addition of a Band 4 rate and raising of the OT Cap, amongst others.
Keep an eye on branch comms for details of how you can have your say.
