BBC Agreements
BBC Series & Serials
There is no current agreement between BECTU & BBC on either rates or T&C for TV Drama, so you are free to negotiate the terms of your contract. However, the Department that produces one off and recommissioned series productions, have largely followed the PACT BECTU rates increases, all be it a few months later than their independent counterparts.
There has been some discussion on T&Cs.
Should anything come to fruition, it will be posted on this site.
BBC Continuing Drama Series (CDS)
This BBC department deals with long running soaps, like Eastenders, Casualty, Holby & Doctors, which are primarily staffed by Sparks through 3rd Parties, such as a crewing agency or a Lighting Equipment Supplier.
We are told that because they do not engage the Lighting Technicians directly, if there is a rates query, the BBC do not have the authority to intervene. However, we have been told that in the case of the Equipment Suppliers, there are regular contract reviews, and the BBC would expect a portion of the increased remuneration to the supplier, be allocated to labour.
We currently have no rates or T&Cs data on any CDS shows.
Please get in contact if you have any info
BBC Documentation
Be aware that while the framework was agreed with BECTU in April 2010, these documents are published by BBC in 2018, and neither these, or other rates documents have been shared with the branch before publication
