Teachers just wanna have fun!
And have fun we did on the day that is set aside to celebrate us! Teachers' Day celebrations this year took on a unique and cinematic twist with the theme of a movie marathon. The celebrations this year were in not one, not two, but in THREE parts.
The first part took place in the classrooms as students celebrated their teachers with food, performances and gifts. The second part took place in the school hall where our teachers sportingly appeared in the school hall by level according to a movie theme affixed to each level. Thus we had the Secondary One teachers appearing as the cast of The Toy Story, the Secondary Two teachers came in as characters from Men in Black (MIB), the Secondary Three teachers put on a gothic appearance as the Addams family and the Secondary Four and Five teachers set the hall ablaze in every shade of pink as Ken and Barbie! This was a 2-in-1 treat as students applauded their teachers, and teachers had fun letting our hair down!
The star that stole the show was undoubtedly our very own Principal, Ms Eleanor Chia who took to the stage dressed as THE director. Taking on her alter ego as a French director, no less, Ms Chia stayed in character complete with ze French accent as she paid tribute to her staff. Oo la la! A commendable performance indeed!
The third part was a well-deserved sumptuous high tea at the Furama City Centre Hotel. Here teachers were treated to more good food and games galore. True to the cinematic theme, there were plenty of photo opportunities and popcorn. With a carefully curated playlist of songs spanning through the decades, teachers were also given awards ala the Oscar awards.
Springfield certainly was abuzz with a meaningful celebration as students appreciated the impact teachers have on their lives, and the invaluable contributions teachers make to society. The atmosphere was one of camaraderie, as students and teachers came together to celebrate the vital role of education in shaping our future.
The movie marathon was not just entertainment; it was a poignant reminder of the profound influence teachers have on the lives of their students. It was a day of appreciation, learning, and the magic of the silver screen, as the school community celebrated their remarkable educators.
