On the 13th of March, we went out to watch a play,"Perfecting Pratas". As we walked into the black-box theatre, the room gave off an eerie and cool vibe. The air was also surprisingly ice-cold. The atmosphere in the theatre as well as the cold air, gave me goosebumps as we got into our seats. Before the play started, the main actor introduced us to some ground rules we had to follow and we waited in anticipation for the play to start.
The start of the play introduced to us to the mechanics of a play. We learnt about how the lighting, the voice and the 'set' could affect the play. The play was about how an old man was cast for the role of "Albert" but due to multiple setbacks, he was encouraged. In the end, he did not give up and managed to play the role well. I feel that it was an extremely good way to teach us more about the differences between plays and movies as well as important things about the setting. It was then that the play "Perfecting Pratas" started.
The play was extremely interesting. The lighting, setting and acting were also done tremendously well. It made the play interesting and sublime.
At the end of the play, the actors talked to us more about the many struggles they had to deal with during and before the play. Learning about this made me appreciate their effort and hard work even more.
During the bus ride home, I thought about my experience watching the play. I feel that the ending of the play when the characters of Albert and Ben finally made up was quite emotional. As I learn about this play in class, watching this has helped me understand the play better now and I enjoyed my overall experience watching the play, "Perfecting Pratas".
