Graduands of 2023
The graduands of 2023 celebrated the end of their four-year journey in Springfield reminiscing about the past and their achievements. This year, both teachers and school leaders also joined in the celebration with a performance and a rendition of a song which was met with thrilled responses from the crowd. This year also marked the first time that the graduands could end their journey with a “graduation fest” which lasted till the evening.
Outstanding Students of 2023 Cohort
In the midst of the celebrations, three students stood out and clinched the Outstanding Student Award for their respective stream.
Consistent Hard Work
For Amanda Chan Hui En of Secondary 4F, the key to her excelling academically was due to hard work and perseverance. Said Amanda, “I do a lot of ten-year series as I believe that the only way to do well is to practise.” This was echoed by fellow winner Kathral Ali Nadia Parajas of Secondary 4B who said that, “I constantly study and try to pass my upcoming exams. Even though I’m tired, I listen in class so that I don’t have to recall too much. I have done well in Maths and Science as I find those subjects fun and challenging.” Nur Ain Binte Yahya of Secondary 4D is also passionate about Mathematics. She also believes in consistent work as she said that doing it repetitively makes it easier after a while.
Leading the Way
For these students, assuming leadership roles have helped them develop their communication and organisation skills. Amanda Chan helmed the Student Executive Committee (SEC) as President. She said, “I think it allowed me to improve my ability to empathise as I’m normally a very blunt person but when leading a big group, it’s important to not be too harsh and act as a friend rather than a leader.” Nadia was also in the SEC and the President of Drama club. She shared, “It has helped me to be confident in speaking and be less conscious about my surroundings. I am now more confident in sharing my opinions.” Ain also shone as Captain of the netball team where she led her juniors in the National School games.
