TOEFL Tip
In the TOEFL iBT Virtual Interview task, you may be asked to speak about familiar topics such as your hometown, school, interests, friends, and personal experiences. To prepare effectively, practice answering questions about yourself in a clear, organized, and confident way. For example:
1) Which of the clubs would you be most interested in joining—the cooking club, film club, or music club?
2) Some people think music education should focus on classical music; others think the focus should be on pop music. Which do you think is more important and why?
a) Answer the questions, referring to your own life. For the first example task, you could make a choice based on your own interests and then explain your decision.
b) Support your opinions by giving details and examples from your own experiences.
In the second example task, you could provide some benefits of learning about either classical or pop music based on the things that you have experienced or seen.

Exercise 3 (Task 3: Stance & Counterpoints Synthesis) Based on the video guide:
Campus Notice Proposal & Official Reasons: [00:00:56] — Explains the library policy change (ending free printing) and the administration's stated reasons (reducing waste and funding upgrades).
Student's Stance & Counterpoints: [00:01:04] — Details the student's disagreement, financial hardship concerns, and the argument about broken hardware.
1. Campus Notice Proposal / Change:
Proposal: The university or library is proposing to end free printing for students (introducing printing fees).
Official Reasons: To reduce paper waste and to use the collected funds for upgrading library equipment and hardware.
2. Student’s Stance & Reasons:
Stance: The student strongly disagrees with the proposal.
Key Reasons:
Financial Hardship: Imposing printing fees places an unnecessary financial burden on students who rely heavily on printed materials for their coursework and studies.
Root Cause of Waste: The problem of paper waste is not caused by student habits, but rather by broken or malfunctioning printers and equipment that jam and ruin documents.
