In a sunny meadow, there lived many animal families. Mama Sheep and her little Lamb, Papa Cow and his bouncy Calf, and Mama Duck with her wobbly Duckling. Every morning, the meadow was filled with the sounds of their happy chatter.
Lamb loved to skip and leap through the tall grass, his little "baa-baa" echoing as he hopped. Calf enjoyed chasing butterflies, his "moo-moo" a soft rumble as he galloped. Duckling, always near the pond, loved to splash and paddle, his "quack-quack" a joyful sound as he followed Mama Duck.
One day, Lamb, Calf, and Duckling decided to have a little jamboree. Lamb skipped and baa-ed, Calf chased his tail and moo-ed, and Duckling splashed and quacked. They laughed and played until the sun began to set, filling the meadow with the sweet sounds of baby animal joy.
What animals were in the meadow?
What did Lamb like to do?
What sound did Calf make?
Draw each baby animal from the story (Lamb, Calf, Duckling).
Next to each drawing, draw or write what the baby animal liked to do (skip, chase, splash)
Make the sound the animal makes (baa-baa, moo-moo, quack-quack).
Try and make the sounds while also acting out the action the animal was doing. (For example, quacking while pretending to paddle).
Fill in the chart together based on the story.
Think of other baby animals and what sounds they might make.
