With her victory, Kshama Sawant became the first, and as of 2025 only, member of the Socialist Alternative party to be elected to public office. Notably, Sawant's opponent, Richard Conlin, was the former president of the Seattle City Council.

As far as I know, this (along with the concurrent uncontested prosecuting attorney election) is the last time a Democrat won a county-wide office in Okanogan County.

In 2016, Washington's incumbent Attorney General (and future governor) Bob Ferguson (D), notable for his $100 million lawsuit against Comcast, ran for re-election. Unlike every other state-wide office, no Republican filed to run, meaning Ferguson's only opposition was Libertarian Joshua Trumbull. Despite only spending $447,000 of $1.4 million raised, Ferguson easily won re-election in a landslide, earning the most votes out of any state-wide candidate and carrying all but two counties. Ferguson did best in cities across the state, as well as in rural areas out west, while Trumbull only managed to secure victory in eastern Washington's sparsely populated rural areas. Ferguson would go on to win re-election in 2020 before being elected governor in 2024, while Trumbull has not run for another office since. As far as I know, as of 2025 this is the last time the Libertarian Party advanced to the general election in Washington.

In stark contrast to the race for Attorney General, the State Treasurer election was a race among Republicans. In the blanket primary, a crowded field of Democrats resulted in their party being locked out of the general election for the first (and as of 2025 only*) time, with Benton County Treasurer Duane Davidson (R) and investment executive Michael Waite (R) advancing to the general election. On the campaign trail, Waite, a political newcomer, touted his experience in the private sector and focused on reducing state debt and modernization. Meanwhile, Davidson touted his bi-partisan record of public service, having been endorsed by every county treasurer in the state, while highlighting the need to improve relations between state and county governments. On election day, Davidson comfortably defeated Waite, carrying every county and becoming the first Republican State Treasurer since 1957. Davidson served as State Treasurer until 2021, losing re-election in 2020, while Waite has not run for another office since.
