Translation of Verse 62:9: 'O you who believe! When a call is given for the prayer on the day of the congregation (Friday), hasten towards Remembrance of Allah and leave the worldly business. This is better for you if you but know!'
There are two calls (اذانs) given for the Friday prayer - first to remind the believers that it is time for them to leave their worldly business and hasten towards ذكر الله, and the 2nd, just before the ritual prayer starts. Before this ritual prayer the talk (بیان), the Imam gives, is mandatory to be listened to! So, it is the first call that is referred to in the Verse above.
To say that it is the 2nd اذان that is meant here is to negate even the approximate one hour per week that Allah demands of His believing subjects for ذكر الله! For Jews, He had prescribed a whole day (Sabbath).
One must remember that it is ذكر الله that is prescribed! ذكر الله can be had at home as well! So, those who cannot go to the Masajid can have their ذكر الله at home. Female believers, particularly, beware!
