Verse 4:174: 'O mankind! Verily, to you has come evidence from your Lord. And We have downloaded for you an illuminating light.'
It is my honest understanding and submission that the evidence and the light mentioned in the Verse, refer to the same thing: the Qur'aan!
The Qur'aan is the divine Guidance for all times till the Last Day.
For us, now, at this age, the Qur'aan is replete with scientific truths not known to people at the time of its revelation and with convincing, superhuman, numerical codes, which establish it as the evidence of its divinity.
The Qur'aan is the light since it illuminates the only straight path to salvation.
The divine Evidence and Light was downloaded to the mind of the Prophet by the angels. Hence the plural 'We'! And, through the Prophet, it was transmitted to the people.
