Al-Insaan is mankind in general terms. I have found only 3 Verses in the Qur'aan mentioning this Arabic term (الانسان). Let us examine these 3 Verses to find out what the Creator Himself says about mankind in general.
Verse 10.12
'And when any affliction touches mankind, he/she prays to Us lying down, sitting, or standing. But as soon as We remove the affliction from him/her, he/she behaves as if he/she had not prayed to us for redressing his/her affliction! Thus does what they do seem fair to the ungrateful.'
Verse 17:100
'Say (O Prophet), "Had you owned the treasures of the Mercy of my Lord, you would surely be withholding your hands out of fear of exhausting the treasures. And mankind is miserly!'
Verse 42:48
'Then if they turn away, We have not sent you (Prophet Muhammad) as a guardian over them! Your duty is to convey the divine Message correctly and completely. And when, indeed, We cause man/woman to taste something from Our Mercy, he/she rejoices in it. And if some evil afflicts them because of their past deeds, then, indeed, mankind is prone to disbelief!'
So, as divinely judged, mankind, in general, is ungrateful, miserly and prone to disbelief! How true! Who can judge mankind better than the Creator Himself?
Man has not been created with such bad attributes. He himself acquires these, utilising the freedom of choice he has been gifted with. The Creator has put in place means and pieces of evidence galore to wean man away from his bad tendencies.
