Qur'aanic Verse 64:14 tells us, 'O you who believe! There indeed is an enemy inherent for you within your spouses and your children. So, beware of them! And if you pardon, avoid, and forgive, then, of course, Allah is indeed Forgiving, Merciful!'
Allah has given freedom of action to everyone. HE has given that freedom to the believers' spouses and children too! It may so happen that someone among these spouses and children may not believe! That someone may go astray and indulge in things prohibited. If that happens, the believer is in danger of himself/herself getting influenced/affected and led astray, because of the close relationship with the one going astray! A close relative leading a person astray is an enemy too, of that person!
The believer must guard his/her faith zealously against any such bad influence, try and bring the erring one back to the Right Path, and then pardon and forgive.
