Fractions must have the same denominator to add or subtract.

One-fourth + two-fourths = three-fourths
Keep the denominator. Add the numerators.

🔹 Example 2 (Different Denominators)

One-half + one-third
→ Find a common denominator: sixths
Three-sixths + two-sixths = five-sixths
