It tells how many parts you have out of equal parts.

🔢 Example

3/4 means 3 parts out of 4 equal parts.
The top number (numerator) tells how many parts.
The bottom number (denominator) tells how many total parts.

If a pizza is cut into 8 slices and you eat 2,
you ate 2/8 of the pizza.
