Geometry is the study of shapes, lines, and space.
In Grade 3, we learn about 2D and 3D shapes, their parts, and how to describe them.
2D shapes: triangle, square, rectangle, hexagon
3D shapes: cube, cone, cylinder, sphere
Identify sides, angles, edges, faces, and vertices
Classify shapes by their features (like number of sides)
A cube has 6 faces, 8 vertices, and 12 edges.
A triangle has 3 sides and 3 angles.
Geometry helps us:
Name and describe the world around us
Build and draw things
Think visually and solve spatial problems
