Steelhand, Nain and family

The Steelhand family has ruled the island of Hurin for generations. King Nain Steelhand is an elderly but not old dwarf.  He is lawful / good.

In mid 1166, the players helped him and his sons recover the Axe of the Dwarvish Lords, and he offered them a generous reward.   After a feast in the king's palace at Hurin, the king offered the adventurers their choice of a reward - name a weapon or piece of armor, and they will give it (or make it), as close as they can. If you want money, you were pointed to a chest of gems, and encouraged to just reach in with both hands and grab whatever you could. [Note that unlike some of your rewards, this didn't seem to be a time for negotiation or haggling, dwarves consider such to be rude - assume they'll be generous if you ask for an item, and don't spend time trying to pick out the best group of gems, just grab some and be happy - you will be getting tens of thousands of gold worth of gems, easily.]

One person asked if it would be possible to get a house on the island somewhere, and at first the king said no as non-dwarves aren't look upon well on the island, but later he relented - after all, he's the king, he can do what he wants, and you did just bring him the Axe of the Dwarvish Lords!

His two sons are Rori Steelhand and Furi Steelhand.  Nain is personable, apparently a very high level fighter, and took part in demon wars in the last century.  His sons served with mercenary companies for many years, and became high level fighters themselves.

Rori - Rori is a very serious dwarf.  He seems to fit many dwarf stereotypes - dislikes outsiders, quiet, grumpy and very involved and dedicated in the governance and protection of the kingdom of Hurin.  The closest he gets to stepping outside the lines of the ideal son is that he is unhappy that Hurin is a small island, and there is no opportunity to expand the kingdom.  He is married and has several children; his family was not seen when the group was at the victory feast after the Axe of the Dwarvish Lords was recovered.

Furi - Furi couldn't be more different from his brother.  Carefree and more than a bit of a party lover, he is single and shows no intention of changing that (somewhat to his father's chagrin).  He is also very liberal in his dealings with outsiders, is known to travel outside of Hurin, and has numerous non-dwarven friends and associates.  He shows no interest in ruling or taking part in governance, but he is always up for a good brawl.  While he is popular with the ladies (of all sorts), rumor has it that this is more due to his charisma, position and wealth than any particular talents in the areas of romance.
