Faithra Thaos, daughter, born February 1122, Duchess and Queen as of late 1166, married to Astar Trask (second son of the old Baron Trask). The was married in 1140, has four children, all daughters; they were born in 1141 (Jennifer), 1143 (Jaqueline), 1144 (Jennalynne) and 1148 (Jirel). Baron Ilien of Brindel is her only direct subject. (It is well known that she married her uncle; this is not much of a scandal, as noble families often intermarry.) Jennalynne was kidnaped by Stafarin, and later recovered during an attack on various Tiamat allies in early 1165. Since that time, all of the royal children of the line have been given strong magical and mundane protections.
None of the daughters are married; rumor has it that the queen has decreed they will be married in order of birth, and Jennifer is being obstinate about the politically motivated choices of suitors available. The other daughters have suitors, but cannot become engaged because of this.
She ascended to the throne after her father died in the battle under the sea in late 1166.
The Queen's Staff
The queen has several small groups of advisors, guards, and executives. The members of these groups sometimes overlap. These include:
The personal bodyguard of the queen are known as the Silver Dragons. They are commanded by a mage, who is rumored to be lawful neutral and level 27.
The high general of the queen's armies is a lawful neutral male named Sir Artorian de Rue, rumored to be level 22.
The high priest of the royal temple of Odin is a female human named Hrafnar, rumored to be about level 20.
The High Council; the queen's chief councilor is named Restarl Inglaris.
The Advisory Committee is made up of five lawyers who no longer practice and five judges who serve life terms on the council, and are selected by her with the approval of the rest of the high council.
The Order of Lords is the ten seniormost lords in the knighthood of the army of Attellaria; succession is by retirement or death. Most are willing to step down when age sets in, as the duties required of the Lords are strenuous, thus, there are few truly old members, although it is not unknown for some to cling to their seats until they die.
The King's Ten is an honorary group of knights who fight duels for the queen. Duels are legal and recognized as a valid way to settle grievances in Attellaria, although seldom practiced. No one has challenged the monarch to a duel in living memory; by law, anyone who challenges the monarch must defeat all ten of the group before they face the ruler in person - and more than likely, anyone who defeated the entire group would be struck down by the ruler's personal bodyguard.
The monarch is also served by a group of ten wizards called the Wizards' Council.
The monarch's personal messenger and liason with the players is an army officer named Colonel Eddard Banning.
