Kandrelion was a character who the players fought against, and eventually defeated, in early 1165.
Kandrelion was a gnome male, very old, who stole life energy to stay young. He was a very powerful psionic, who knew every ability from the books, the Dragon article, and a number of others. He apparently had more than 1400 points in his attack and defense pools; he could attack through clairvoyance, and through a projected image. He could be located with magic with lesser power than a limited wish, and had powers that warned him of such happening.
In mental combat, he had such a vast pool of points that not even a group of psionics were able to wear him down. In physical combat, he attacked with his hands, five times per segment, as if his hands were +5 weapons, wielded by a strength that gives him +20/+35, equal to STR 30, with a THACO of -20. He can also literally punch through armor that stops him, which will occured 25% of the time on a miss – this effect will destroy the armor. He had abilities that allow him to disarm quite easily (a contested d30 STR roll with him having +5, winning by 1 or more allows him to take any one item from the target’s hands). He can combine that with a weapon catch, which he can do as often as he attacks, in the place of one attack. He typically only took a couple of attacks in a segment if he goes first, then use the rest that are left after catching any weapons that he can.
His abilities seemed overpowered for a mortal with very little magic, but the basis of his power is the being below, who he found several years ago after the Judgement War. This is Magni!
Dessicated but alive, this eight foot tall humanoid looked like a mummy. Kandrelion could not kill him, no matter how much energy he took, so he fed off him every day, until the energy was so intense that he had to flee and go kill something. Magni could move, as Kandrelion keeps him drained as low as he can manage. It would have been very difficult to heal Magni to the point where he could speak – even Woundhealer would require many applications, and its power would be drained for a day each time.
Kandrelion was defeated in an epic battle outside of the former temple of Balder in Aertael, and his body was taken by Colbey Calstinsson to be turned over to the Norse gods. Magni was presented to the temple of Thor; his healing may take a while, unless direct intervention by a healing god can be arranged.
