Shadow is a very high level and powerful ranger, known for his prowess with a long bow and short sword. He is married to Kibbles (Sue Ellen's character), and spends most of his time teaching at the ranger school in Aertael.
Many of the players met Shadow’s family at his wedding to Kibbles; the family consists of his father and mother, four sisters (he will joke that’s why he ran away from home), two uncles and an aunt.
Fal Mac Cador, his father, a grey elf; Moira, his mother, a high elf; Ninian, Sabine, Brynn and Luned, his sisters. All are brunettes, ranging from mildly attractive to stunning. They are all younger than Shadow, between 280 and 300 years old, the equivalent of early twenties for a human. Only the eldest, Luned, is married.
A few years after the wedding, the players learned of a plague that was killing all the kobolds in the world; this plague was stopped with only nine kobolds surviving. These creatures swore loyalty to Siobhan. They are all male. The perpetrator of the plague was found to be a being the kobolds named The Genocide, or Orc Slayer, a masked woman who was a non-commissioned officer in the Attellarian army. When confronted by the party, it played out like this.
'She is very defeated in aspect, after having her grand plan foiled, and will tell the story of how her whole village was slaughtered by an orc army. “The village consisted of a couple of hundred elves, few of whom were warriors; the orc army penetrated well beyond their normal predations, and caught the village by surprise. My father, Fal Mac Cador, died fighting, and slew many orcs before they pulled him down. Moira, my mother, was a high elf; but not a warrior, and she at least died quickly. My sisters, Ninian, Brynn and Luned took a long time to die. I could tell all of this only by the condition of their bodies, when I came back to the village from a trip to the capital. I buried what was left of them, and this began my quest. What would you do in my position? Forgive and forget? I think not!” By now, everyone should notice that Shadow has turned ashen, because at this point he collapses to the ground. He says one word: “Sabine.” Orc Slayer turns to him. “What’s the matter, Tylendel, not happy to see me?” He won’t speak for a long time. Orc Slayer will admit to being Sabine, his sister. She has also given up her mission as fruitless, since both the enemy and her supposed allies, other humans and elves, are working against her. The kobolds want her dead, but will obey whatever command Siobhan gives them.'
With the help of the party, the fire giants that were behind the murder of all the elves of the village were defeated and slain, and the bodies of all of Shadow's dead kin were recovered and given proper burial - except for Moira, of whom no trace was found.
