Anomaly FAQ

What SCPs are sentient?

What does SCP-082 (Fern) call SCP-682?

SCP-082 calls SCP-682 his "Steed" much like a pet to him.

How do I avoid angering SCPs?

Treat them with respect and call them by their alias instead of their SCP number.

Are SCPs supposed to be out of containment?

Yes! Most SCPs can freely roam, but watch out; not all are them can be friendly.

Can you approach/talk to SCPs?

Yes, as long as you remember to be respectful to them!

How can I talk to the bears?

The bears, aka SCP-1048 and its instances, can only answer yes or no questions by nodding and shaking their head. Keep that in mind when talking to them! However, the "main" bear (Builder bear) can also use pictures to communicate.

Can I call SCP’s by their numbers?

No, although some are ok with it like 999, 131, and 682.

What is the best way to approach a SCP like SCP-131 and SCP-999?

Introduce yourself and let them walk to you, not the other way around.

What are RS?

RS aka, Research Subjects, are like SCP’s except they were created by Site Alpha.

Is it okay to tease or antagonize a SCP?

No, never. Always make sure you're kind to them. If you have questions about what is okay, ask them first. Purposely making them angered can be cause for reprimand and discipline.

Can I crowd an SCP if I really want to talk to them?

Give the SCP space or you will be harmed.

What SCP can I talk to so I can get my certificate?

SCPs like SCP-049, SCP-082, SCP-527, and many others will occasionally roam the site. If you see any SCP outside of testing or a breach, interacting with it will help you get your certificate.

What do I do if an SCP is mad at me?

If an SCP is mad at you, leave it alone for some time and try to apologize later.

If an SCP is angry, should I try calm it down?

No, let the SCP calm down itself or let the authorities handle it.

How do I approach specific SCPs such as SCP-049 or SCP-082?

You should refer to SCP-049 as "Doctor" and introduce your self to him. The same thing works for SCP-082 except you call him "Fernand". It is the same for SCP-527, but you should call him Mr. Fish or Fish. For the bears, you should make them comfortable around you and usually give them a treat if they help you out with a thing. For example, Void likes to take items from others. To approach SCP-457, you simply don't, but if you testing with him, usually start by giving him 1-3 Class-Ds so he can speak. You should not call SCPs by their numbers as they treat it as disrespect, this only applies to SCPs that have free roam, and SCP-131, 999, and 368 are excluded.

How do I communicate with SCP’s that don’t speak?

Try and communicate in a way that they will be able to nod or react to. For example, when you’re talking to SCP-1048 try to ask him questions like, “Hi, how are you?.” Or, “Which drawing of yours is your favorite?” SCP-999 and SCP-131 can nod and shack their faces to say "Yes" and "No" as well as shrug. Make sure to ask Yes/No questions for the easiest communication.

What are hostiles, neutrals and friendly SCPs ?

Hostile SCPs are dangerous and they will attack you, regardless of what you are doing or your status. Neutral means that you can interact with them, however: if you anger them they’ll turn hostile. Finally, friendly anomalies will not attack you, even when angered, that doesn’t mean you can anger/make them sad them or insult them.

Examples:

Hostile SCP: SCP-173
Passive SCP: SCP-049
Friendly SCP: SCP-131

Why does SCP-049 enjoy speaking with ScD and MD so much?

SCP-049 views ScD and MD as close co-workers, he also doesn't view himself as 'contained' within SCI-PATHOS-III, rather he is just there to conduct his research.
