Divina Pastora School is a private publicly funded school, with an average number of 320 students from 3 to 16/17 years old. We have Pre-primary, Primary and Secondary Education. There are about 100 students in Secondary Education. The board of teachers in Secondary Education is formed by 13 teachers, with 4 tutors. We are really interested in innovation related to teaching. Some years ago we started different projects such as Project Based Learning, Cooperative Learning, Multiple Intelligence and Early Stimulation programmes. It is also important to mention that we are members of a net of Multilingual Schools in the Valencian Community, and we are also authorized to develop the European Portfolio of Languages. All the educational community as a whole will be involved in this project, but it will be mainly addressed to students taking part in the last years of Secondary education (years from 14 to 17). The school's motivation to develop this project comes from the existence of a group of teachers who consider that developing the European identity in our students is of the utmost importance for them and our society. It will also help our students, teachers and all the educational community (including families) to develop the linguistic competence in a foreign language (English) and to get to know cultural differences and similarities of other European countries.
This school is located in Iasi, a big city in the east part of Romania, the cultural capital of Moldavia, one of the most important region from Romania and has a long tradition in educational field. Since 1985, 1584 students graduated, among them a lot of cultural and scientific personalities known on national and international level in different fields of literature, medicine, politics, etc. The main goal of the school is to form open-minded young students with complex personalities able to adjust in a dynamic society. Our school is considered one of the best schools in our area. There are 51 classrooms, each having video projectors and laptops, 9 labs, gym halls and sport fields, canteen and boarding school, consulting room, stomatological lab and the library. There are 584 of students, from 5 to 12 grade, who can choose in high school different profiles like mathematics and informatics (with much English as a foreign language), social areas, chemistry and biology or literature. 90 teachers (authors of didactic books, teacher formers, tutors) offer students a high quality of education in order to have equal chances, diversity on extracurricular activities and vocational training. In our school there are also students from Moldavia, a country situated in our neighbourhood with which we are related by history. In spite of being in a big city with a lot of universities, there is a luck of opportunities to work after finishing school, because of the economic situation; the local authorities do not encourage young students to stay and have a chance in our country, and that's why a lot of people leave Iasi to work in another country even if it is not in their area of interest. In general, our students are having very great results at all the exams, but our society is not flexible to encourage them to find a job in their city. Students are frequently informed on the opportunities of study on national or international level, also about the different areas they can develop; for example, the MUNDO programme, visits to different institutions, contacts with other universities, etc. Discovering students' abilities is a constant interest in our institution. Each year they have the opportunity to explore different aspects of their area of interest in by taking part of the activities that are developing in Science Week or Art s Week, in transcurricular activities in order to value their talents and competences.
Staicele Secondary School is a state school situated in Staicele- a small town (1200 inhabitants) on the banks of the River Salaca, north-west part of Latvia, about 130 km from the capital of Latvia, Riga. Our school implements educational programmes: pre-school (children ages 3– 5 and more) and basic education programmes. The school staff includes 25 teachers, professionals in their speciality. All classrooms and labs at school are equipped with computers and there the Internet access is available. There are video projectors in some classrooms, too. So, it is possible to use technologies and online tools during the learning and teaching process in lessons. The school has long-lasting sports traditions, especially football traditions; we have football pitches, an indoor gym, sports fields. The school has an important role in the local community's everyday life; the most of the town’s and the nearest area students study at school, and so it affects the local life. We have a career study plan, which involves different lessons (lessons on subject, individual lessons, extracurricular activities, study tours to local enterprises, meetings with personalities, etc.). Students’ self-study results, career-related materials are collected in folders (Student’s Portfolio). Every year our students have a possibility to attend the annual exhibition ’School’ where different schools and educational establishments from Latvia and other countries introduce their education possibilities, and a ’Business Day’ organized by the local (Aloja Municipality) government where students can get knowledge about the local enterprises, their work, achievements and meet with entrepreneurs. Our teachers are using modern technologies and online tools during the learning and teaching process in lessons. Some of them are more experienced to use different web tools, have gained knowledge about them in special courses. We are all interested in cooperating, collaborating, working together with students and teachers from other European schools.
Uulu Primary School is a small rural school in The Republic of Estonia, located in the south-western part of Estonia on the shore of the Baltic Sea, in Uulu village (2000 inhabitants). There are 150 students aged 7-16 and 17 teachers in school. The school gives the basic education, focused on local countryside students. We have a sports stadium with a basketball and volleyball court, an indoor gym,13 classrooms, a library and a computer lab. The school has a big part in the local community's everyday life. 95% of local kids study at school and so it affects the local life in quite a way. The main focus is on giving a good education and everyday life skills for students. Uulu Primary School has a career studies plan for the last school year, which has involved career lessons, but we feel that it has not been enough. We should learn how to contact and work together with the local companies to find out their needs about the future workers. We have many small local businesses which have employed our previous students. It would be a rather great opportunity to work all together and help our students to focus on skills both the employers and the employees have lacked of. To help our students to find out how important it is to develop the needed skills among everyday studies.
