Sightseeing in Riga Old City
Travel to Riga – the capital city of Latvia was one of the challenges for Latvian students as they were in roles of guides during the sightseeing in Old Riga City.
The tour around Old Riga City began at Latvian Riflemen Monument, then we moved to the House of Blackheads, St. John's Church , St.Peter's Church, John’s Courtyard (Jāņa sēta) until we reached Livs’ Square (Līvu laukums) which is home to the Great and Small Guildhalls, the Russian Drama Theatre and the Cat House are located. We stopped at the Freedom Monument on the edge of Old Riga and the famous Laima Clock to take some photos. Then we walked up to the top of Bastion Hill for views and then walked to the red brick Powder Tower and the Museum of War next door, next we walked down Torņa Street to The Jame' s Barracks where remnants of the Old City Walls are visible, walked through the Swedishh Gate , watched St. James Church and the Saeima (Parliament), had a look at Three Brothers Houses, then we moved to Pils Square where Riga Castle, which is the official residence of the Latvian president, is located.
Despite the rainy weather foreign students were excited by beautiful sights in the city shown by Kendija, Ojārs, Kristīne, Elīna, Elvīra, Ligija, Niks and Ruslans.
