The National Library of Latvia offers group tourists of the library, introducing the library building, reading rooms and services, and such possibility had the Project participants, too.
The National Library of Latvia has been located in the building at 3 Mūkusalas Street or the Palace of Light since 2014. The library building was designed by world-renowned Latvian architect Gunars Birkerts (USA) and is one of the most significant cultural buildings in the 21st century in Latvia. 'The Palace of Light' and its infrastructure allow the library not only to provide basic services and organize its events, but also to provide a platform for a wide variety of collaborative activities and to create unique creative synergies.
The new National Library of Latvia, with its nationally significant cultural collections, is ready to participate in the worldwide electronic communications network and information technology systems. This is an essential part of the building's 'soul' .

It offers collections, services and an environment for education, research, self-development and recreation.
The National Library of Latvia is a national cultural institution under the supervision of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia - a library. Its mission is to create a national literature collection, to preserve it forever and to ensure its long-term and open access. The core of the NLL collection, which is over 4 million units, is the national collection - Latvian and foreign publications about Latvia and Latvians, works published in Latvia, as well as works by Latvian authors.
The National Library of Latvia was established on August 29, 1919.
The new building of the Latvian National Library was designed in 1989 by world-renowned Latvian architect Gunars Birkerts (USA).
