Bernie and Shawna Josten
After HS graduation, I attended USD for three years. During one of the breaks, I visited Steve Donahoe in Denver and loved the mountains. So much so that I transferred to the University of Colorado for my senior year and graduated in Mathematics.
After some travels and odd jobs, the Air Force hired me as a civilian in Utah. In Utah I got an MBA and enjoyed plenty of skiing, biking, hiking and desert drifting. Just as I was about to transfer to Washington DC, I met the love of my life and my best friend, Shawna, on the ski hill. We married and moved to D.C. at the end of 1989. There I worked for a Senator for a year and congressional liaison for 2 more years. It was fun, but too crowded even then, so we transferred to Dayton, Ohio to fight corporate AF battles.
We transferred back to the mountains of Utah in 2009 and I retired in 2012. Since retirement we have managed to annually spend 4-6 weeks at Bear Lake in the summer, 4-6 weeks in the Utah desert in the spring/fall, ski in the winter and spend a couple weeks a year in Mexico. This year we also spent two weeks in Israel on a biblical archaeology tour.
