Bar at Kennedy Airport, New York | Lithograph | 15x21 inches
Artist's note
Kennedy airport, New York, 2001 was a busy sight, full of human traffic and an opportunity to study people. The travellers, the permanent Bar operators, the excitement, the chatter, the boredom, the waiting and the exhaustion was all around. While the Aircraft tail commands the attention of the phoenix resting before its flight. I caught the moment in a live and powerful sketch rendition , later transferred the image from my sketchbook to the litho plate. Reworking the enlarged scale and elements in the experience of print medium. The energy of the scene is duly conveyed in the outcome. I chose this work, as it is from a time way before the common place presence of the mobile phone culture, recording a contrast of what would be a different scene, of phone zombies, today.
