Artist's note
The tiger dance, art form is performed by males in many part of India especially in Kerela, Odisha, Bengal etc. In this dance form hundreds of men costumed as tigers and leopards, donning masks and body paints, perform the traditional folk dance before thousands of spectators every year. In 2017, the tradition of 200 years was broken, when women finally debuted in the male dominated parade. A historic occasion was made and it was headlines across India. The ‘Dancing Tigress’ has encouraged more women to show their inner strength.
