Inking Ram | Intaglio print | 19*14.5
Artist's note
It's an Intaglio print on Fabriano. Ramnami Samaj of Chhattisgarh inspired it. Ramnami gets the tattoo done on their whole body, which is fascinating in this growing world, it made me think of them and I started archiving them. It leads me to the untold story of this ethnic group which tells the world about their true worshipping. Choosing this medium resembles the ink of tattoos, with the engraving of needles. Ramnami belongs to Dalits and due to this, they were not allowed to the temples, so they brought their Ram to their body. But now the tribe is not following such rituals and some Ramnamis with full body tattoos are remaining.
