We are back! I hope everyone had a restful and joyful Easter vacation.
I spent our Easter break in the Holy Land! Wow, did the Gospels come alive! Spending time walking where Jesus walked and visiting all the Holy Sites where He performed His miracles will forever be etched in my heart. I went with (my sister) and a pilgrimage group (there were about 80 of us) and our guide was so knowledgeable about each site. Even Zelie's grandma happened to be in our group! I visited the Jordan River, the cave where the Angel Gabriel told Mary she would be the mother of our Lord, we walked the Way of the Cross, saw the crucifixion site and the tomb of Jesus (all in the Church of the Holy Sepulcher), the Shepherds' Fields where "Gloria to God in the Highest" was first heard, the Upper Room where the Last Supper was held, the Mount of Olives (Garden of Gethsemane), and the city of Jerusalem where the Temple is that Jesus was presented and taught in. I shared a little with the students and showed them on the world map what country I traveled to.

In Science today we explored some water phenomenon. We discovered that water has "skin"! We know that if we put salt into water, it will blend in and be absorbed, but when pepper is added, it floats! This layer of "skin" that water has allows some bugs to run across the water and not sink. We also discovered that when water pressure is sealed in with air in a bottle, it will cause the bottle to not leak when we poke small holes in it. But once we allow the air pressure to be released, it will leak. We also saw that if a cloth is wet and put over a glass of water and turned upside down, the water in the glass will be attracted to the other water molecules in the cloth, and not spill out. Mrs. Rivera didn't hold the cloth tight enough the first time, so we concluded that a tighter grip would solve the problem and it did!
In History, we discussed the bicentennial of our country. In 1976, many people in the USA celebrated with parades, special labels on food containers, buttons, and much more. We filled out our USA symbols booklet with info on the Liberty Bell and wrote facts about it, which incorporated our IEW time, and we discussed the nouns and verbs in each of the fact sentences.
We also read our bible verse of John 14:6 "I am the Way, the Truth, the Life. No one comes to the Father, except through me." Mrs. Rivera shared a story with them about the Resurrection of Jesus, from Mary Magdalene's view.
We had our last chapel time, Spirit Rally, and some dressed as super heroes!
