We had a great day!
We caught up on our US Symbols booklet and learned about the Bald Eagle. We wrote down some facts and discussed the nouns and verbs in each sentence. We also finished our Hero page where we recognized our appreciation for first responders. Mrs. Rivera is going to put together a few of our pages to give to her niece Officer Delgado, who works for Riverside Sheriff's Department as a police officer, as a thank you to her for her hard work in protecting us all.
Second grade had a great history presentation for us! Some 2nd graders dressed up as 'interactive museum statues" and we simply pushed their 'green button' and they came to life! We listened to Rosie the Riveter, Jackie Robinson, George Washington, the Statue of Liberty, and more, tell us all about their contributions to America. We had to guess who they were after they told us facts about themselves. The rest of the school was invited and it was fun to walk amongst the 'statues' and hear what they had to say.
We also did a fun activity for our Open House. We finished off the day with some activities and games Mrs. Rivera had from her time as a reading specialist.
We had to say good-bye to Christopher, as he won't be joining us for the last week of school. :( We will miss you Christopher!
