In a mixed-ability Tamil Language classroom, two important questions will be in the mind of the teacher:

1. How do I cater to the learning needs of a class of students with different levels of readiness and learning preferences?

2. How do I gather data on my students’ learning gaps in comprehension skills and address them accordingly?

Differentiated instruction can play a vital role in addressing these two concerns. Participants in this workshop will be able to understand the importance of differentiation in a mixed-ability class, and use the suggested formative assessment strategies to close the students’ learning gaps. During the workshop, an opportunity will be provided for the participants to plan for a differentiated lesson for their respective classes in groups.
