TERM 1
Is music composition only for the talented few? Or can it be scaffolded in such a way that students could find meaning in their creative musical compositions and be able to articulate their musical ideas? This workshop will allow the participants to explore ways in which music teachers can engage their students in the latter's music composition through Social-Emotional Learning activities (adapted from Scott Edgar’s Student’s Workbook), whereby students are empowered to express their emotions better, be self-directed and confident learners, and engage in independent and collaborative learning. Participants will move through a process of moving from the visual to abstract construct of music composition by exploring different moods using classroom instruments and reflections, and musicking cards.
