TERM 3
To implement Differentiated Instruction (DI) in a more pervasive manner, the school introduced DI at school level via In-house workshops. The school also leveraged on PLT for teacher discussion and Peer-Observation to facilitate transfer of learning. Teachers planned and discussed their DI lessons with their PLT members, carried out their lesson and peer-observed each other and gave feedback for improvement. Using the feedback received, teachers reflected on the implementation of DI in their lesson using the Rolfe model. In this manner, the school has changed the philosophy of the teacher to depart from a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach to more mindfulness of the varied needs of students in the class. This process has empowered teachers to discuss more confidently about implementation of DI in their class and engaged them in for collaborative learning for Professional Development (PD). This is also in tandem with the E1 Cluster guidelines of Focus-Collaborate-Transfer for effective P which is directly applicable for classroom teaching.

By making in-person and online learning complementary, Blended Learning (BL) creates a truly integrated classroom whereby the needs of all types of learners can be met. Keeping students engaged, stimulated, and motivated also helps teachers to be more effective and make greater gains with their students. This workshop aims to showcase the different rotation models used to engage students so that BL can be more accessible to all teachers. The facilitated discussion during the workshop will also allow participants to voice their concerns and challenges that come with the implementation of BL.
