TERM 3
The study of Drama includes the appreciation of stage directions, but often, students read the play and cannot imagine the impact of stage directions on meaning-making. Our youths, as consumers and producers of multi-modal texts, can enhance their appreciation of multi-literacies and learn how to transfer this knowledge to their appreciation of plays and the production of multi-modal texts. Through their exploration of semiotic modes in parodies, students write scripts that include different stage directions, allowing them to make a deeper connection with the play. Participants of this workshop will be able to see how students can transfer their understanding of multimodality into the writing of a play in The Parody Project.

In 2022, St Andrew's Junior College embarked on Blended Learning for the whole school. Incorporated into this model were Learning Experiences (LEx) for students on certain Home-based Learning days - these were 2.5 hours in duration each. The Literature Unit decided to look into making these LEx meaningful for students based on a) education research, and b) surveys and findings. The rationale was that if these LEx were more meaningful for students, there would be greater participation and traction, and students would be more self-directed and autonomous in their approach towards online learning.
