ACA 34th High School Scholarship Award Calls for Class 2018 Nominations

Dear Parents,
This year marks the 34th year that the Association of Chinese Americans (ACA) has offered scholarships to local high school students. For the Class of 2018, we will offer a total of Twelve scholarships to students, who are interested in serving the Chinese American community, or are Chinese American, or are of Chinese ancestry. If your son or daughter is in class 2018, please see if she/he is interested in submitting an application. Please feel free to pass this email to someone you know may be interested.
The 12 scholarships are:
*Three ASSOCIATION OF CHINESE AMERICANS SCHOLARSHIPS (Best All-Around Scholarship, Leadership Scholarship and Community Service Scholarship)
*One MABEL PENG MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP (Best academic record and test scores and demonstrated leadership in extracurricular and/or community activities)
*One MR. & MRS. P.L. SIAK SCHOLARSHIP (Physical disability and/or overcome hardship – Achieved excellent academic result with preferably a 3.5 GPA on a scale of 4.0 or equivalent (exceptions may be granted on a case-by case basis) while overcoming major difficulties in life, such as a physical disability, or constraints, or major illness for an extended period of time.
*Two MR. & MRS. LEON ZHENG SCHOLARSHIP (Financial challenges - Achieved excellent academic result with preferably a 3.5 GPA on a scale of 4.0)
*One ANDY WANG SCHOLARSHIP (A general scholarship preference given to those who have more than three kids in the family)
*Three DETROIT CHINESE ENGINEERS ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIPS (Demo nstrated leadership in extracurricular and/or community activities and stated intent for Engineering major)
*One O.S. CHAN SCHOLARSHIP (The criteria will focus on innovation and creativity)
All transcripts must be submitted by school counselor to acascholarships@gmail.com o r by mail to:

All scholarship applications and transcripts must be submitted to ACA by Monday, Sept 18, 2017, electronically or by mail.
Each nominee will be required to express their college plans, career goals, and interest in serving the Asian American community in a 15-minute interview with the High School Achievements Awards Committee in October 2017. Each finalist will receive a certificate, and the scholarship recipients will each receive a scholarship award between $500 and $1,000. The decision of the Committee is final.
