Maeovis

In the cold Dyarsic mountains, a wyvern and her rider brave the biting winds and slip past the watchful eyes of the Dyrsguard to deliver much-needed resources to a small town.
Within the dense Sinivan forests, a once-great hilltop fortress is now home to the largest library in the world, and a young scholar is just beginning their journey to recover an ancient relic of their people.
On the shores of the Tekeburian great lakes, an Elysian weaver works at his loom, recording a myth of his people in the threads of time.
In the light of the warm Ocarillian savanna, an acrobat dances to the beat of a drum, her steps tracing legends of gods and mortals in a whirling blur of color.
Hidden within the Dragonback mountains, a mage leaves the great city under the cover of night, forsaking the protection the walls give her in order to understand the true nature of magic.

Maeovis is a world governed by magic and history. Some fear it, some embrace it, some simply see it as a means to an end.

According to Magefolk legends, the world was once governed by six deities of wild magic. These deities were in control of the elements that had the power to heal or to destroy. Due to the plotting of the goddess Zyna, a vengeful and chaotic spirit of destruction, the world fell underneath a war between the gods. Nyx, the creator goddess allied with the magefolk to bring an end to the war and trap the gods in a land known only as the Shattered Plane.

Years later, Maeovis is a world shaped by the beliefs and history of the people. Only relics remain of the magic that once controlled the land, and nations are shaped by the events of the once-great gods, though long forgotten. Recently, however, people are beginning to uncover these relics and question for themselves whether magic is as dangerous as it seems... or if it is worth the price.

Overarching themes of Maeovis

The world was once a legendary place. It is no longer. The tales of the past are relegated to folk-tale and fairy-legend, stuff of children's stories and bard's songs. People forget that where they stand was once a mountain, or the city they live in briefly plunged into the depths of the sea. Magis is all but nonexistent, and mages that do remain are hunted out of fear.
