Story: The life of Velaina is a cruel one. How many people can say they have lived, loved, and lost in less than half a century? Velaina has experienced it all. She grew up as cruel and as manipulative as the drow could be. In fact, she was favored by her matron mother and was expected to achieve great things in the service of Lloth, but how does one control the desires of their heart?

To obtain Lloth's favor and bring immense power to her House Beltath, Velaina was tasked to capture an outsider troubling the drow city. She gladly took the opportunity and quickly made her way to the supposed location of the outsider, but her opponent was expecting her. She walked into an ambush and more than half of her house was killed that day, but in the end, Velaina was able to corner the outsider. Lloth's chosen screamed at her to finish their enemy but as Velaina raised her mace high above her head, the enemy's helmet fell from his head, thus, revealing long and beautiful strands of golden hair and dark blue eyes that bore into her very core...was her captivation with the man love at first sight? She would not know, because her hesitation angered Lloth's priestess and the priestess took it upon herself to knock Velaina off her feet and kill the outsider. Needless to say, Velaina had failed her quest given by Lloth and the spider goddess was none to pleased...

Lloth turned every one under House Beltath into a drider, including Velaina...oh, how she felt so spurned and betrayed, but not by Lloth, but at herself. Such shame only intensified as the days grew when she was in her drider form. It came to the point where Velaina hated her very being, she had everything and lost all, and for what? Nothing. Many years past and she grew resentful of her appearance and what she had become, she even began to reflect for all the atrocities she had committed. Velaina wanted nothing more than to cease her existance.

Until one day, a mysterious stranger came and promised her the "deal of a life time". He would not reveal what he required from her but her payment would come in "due time". At this point, Velaina didn't care and so she accepted the bargain. Nothing happened at first and she thought this stranger had been mocking her, until the day came when she fell into a deep slumber.

Velaina was woken up by a nudge from something wet and slimy, and it terrified her. She immediately flung herself away from the intruder and tried to steady herself to attack, but when she looked down at herself, she saw her hands and feet once more. She was overjoyed and quickly realized that her intruder was a strong, white stallion with bright, blue eyes. As soon as she locked eyes with the creatures, she felt enlightened and a sense of belonging overwhelmed her. She knew that no matter where she would go, she would always be segregated but here, in the midst of nature, she would always be welcomed. From then on, she would only know the warmth and guidance of the goddess, Mielikki.

Friendship: Aliyah

• The story of Aliyah's and Velaina's is a rather short and simple one, yet one of interest. It happened rather suddenly, really. Velaina spotted a half-elf woman, heavy with child, laughing and smiling with what seemed to be her lover, a white-haired elf. Velaina understood the hatred towards drows, especially from her elves, and she also understood that if she approached them, the elven man might see her as a threat and immediately attempt to protect his lover and unborn child. So, she did nothing and watched the love radiate from the couple. It wasn't long before she felt captivated and protective over the couple whenever she saw the two walk in the forest.

• It wasn't until much later, that the half elf woman returned to the woods cradling a small child. However, this time, her lover was nowhere in sight. The woods were generally safe at this time, but she still kept her vigil and watched the woman. She watched as the woman cooed at the child and let out a small giggle at the sight of her baby grasping her finger. But Velaina sensed something was off and her intuition was correct. Several burly bandits surprised the half elf woman and her baby and attempted to grab them. Immediately, Velaina sprung out from the bushes and fended off the attackers. As quickly as it happened, it ended and Velaina felt a small, gentle touch at her shoulder. She turned around and was met face-to-face with the half-elf woman. Grateful and relieved eyes greeted Velaina and at that instant, the two knew they had found a friend in each other.
