Story: What is life without music? What is life without happiness? Why must one dwell on the more miserable parts of life? Why not...ignore it? These are the questions that revolve around Lanora's head each and every day. Some say she is ignorantly bliss and some say she is a lunatic, I would say the latter is truer for her. The people around her have firmly decreed that she does not take into account anything, except for her music, but what they fail to realize is that she blatantly chooses to ignore it all. Again, is this a sign of insanity or does she simply choose to appear this way to others?

• BGI - While prancing around in the Nashkel mines, Lanora almost fell over in surprise because she nearly tripped over a seemingly lifeless body. Much to her amusement, the lifeless body turned out to be an elven man who had apparently been kept as prisoner of the mine's master. From the moment the elf prisoner opened his mouth, he started spouting out how hopeless their situation was. At that moment, Lanora made it her mission in life (she clearly has other things to do, so I think she meant to describe it as a side project...), to cheer up this all "gloom and doom" elf. So Lanora took it upon herself to "adopt" the former prisoner into her fold. Every day she would listen to his rants of how the world was going to end and how they were all destined to death, and every day, Lanora would make great efforts to make him smile. Of course, she knew a fake smile when she saw it and Xan (the elven man), gave many of those. Until one day, when she was about to give up all hope of success, Lanora took out her flute and began to breathe life into the instrument. She lost herself in her song and when she opened her eyes, she noticed Xan smiling at her...a genuine smile. In that precise second when their eyes met, sheer emotion shook the two to their core and a deep bond of friendship and eventually love, was created.
• BGII - After escaping Irenicus' dungeon, Lanora still retained her unnaturally optimistic self, but became a little bit more cynical. In truth, she started to fear what she was becoming and realized she could no longer ignore the things that she had once used to. Being separated from Xan, her bonded partner, made her erratic at times until she finally found him looking for her, but I guess you could say that Xan was searching for her. Their reunion let Lanora live in bliss once again, but not the bliss that she once held before Irenicus' dungeon, this one was much more calmer. However, we all know that every thing must come to an end eventually, and so her bliss ended when Xan sacrificed himself to escape the clutches of a deadly vampire who had been hunting Lanora and her party. His ultimate sacrifice sent Lanora into rampage and she has never been herself ever since. Her once joyful and up-beat music became morose and solemn. She no longer danced under the moonlight and the fire that burned so brightly in her eyes vanished. All that was left of her lover was his journal that chronicled their journey together.
• Epilogue: Days and months went by after Xan's death, and Lanora's only goal was to see her journey through... all the way to the end. And the end she did reach, and upon defeating the final foe, the solar asked Lanora if she wished to remain a mortal or to ascend to the heavens. With nothing left and no reason to dwell upon the mortal realm, she chose to ascend, and finally, did she allow herself a single tear to fall from her eyes. As she turned to face her companions one last time, she finally admitted that life really isn't all sunshine and butterflies.
