Story: Half sea-elf and half human, Pentos has always felt he belonged in two worlds. Despite the strange looks he would receive whenever he was on land or in the sea, he was always perfectly at home anywhere and everywhere. As he grew older, his actions became more and more chaotic like the sea he so loved. Yet, his chaoticness was always for the good of the people around him. He was always outspoken, outspoken to the point where he found in throw of many cities for pointing the finger at the government or law of that particular city. No one ever rallied behind him though, for who would defy the government with nothing less than an army? Regardless, Pentos always found his way back to the cities and he was always thrown out. Eventually, one city had enough of his outbursts and instead of letting him loose, they jailed him. Some say he was left rotting in his cell, others say that he returned back to the sea, where "things made more sense", but, who really knows?

• By chance, Pentos saved a young man from drowning after a ship crash. He took it upon himself to nurture him and as he learned about the man, he realized that they had more in common than what meets the eye. Pentos found himself enthralled by the young man's love for the ocean and found himself asking the man, known as Zakrion, if he would accept his aid in finding a new ship for him. The two formed a brotherly friendship very quickly, as if they had known each other all their life and when Zak finally retrieved his ship, he named Pentos his first-mate.
