LIGHTRIDGE REQUIREMENTS TO GET STARTED FOR WINTER WRESTLING

Parents must attend the parent meeting at the beginning of the winter season per LCPS rules.

POLICIES
Follow daily attendance policies published by the school
Be familiar with student "Extracurricular Handbook" rules under "more info" on the Lightridge Athletics website ~ no longer available online, however, be familiar with the absentee policy
Health Screenings are no longer required. Each coach should make a statement at the beginning of each practice that you cannot attend if you have any symptoms of the COVID virus that are not associated with a different medical condition.
Attendance at Winter Wrestling Practices
In order to participate in an activity or practice on any given day, students must report to school by no later than 15 minutes after the first bell to begin the school day and must remain in school that entire day. Exceptions may be made for doctor or dental appointments or reasons excused by the principal.

Additional requirements for "regular" winter season wrestling
Grades ~ students are required to maintain a minimum level of grades to attend sports.
Equipment ~ athletes are responsible to wear and return proper or loaned equipment see ~ equipment website tab.
Medical, Illness, and Skin Lesions ~ athletes must consult medical physicians and school trainer ~ see medical website tab.
Team Unique Requirements ~ see the "team only" website tab (ask the coach or search for this tab in another section).
GENERAL LCPS ELIGIBILITY OF ATHLETES
In order for a student to participate on a Loudoun County Public School athletic team, each athlete must have satisfied all of the scholastic eligibility requirements prior to participation. These regulations state that athletes:
Cannot receive money or awards for playing
Cannot sign a contract to play professional sports while they still maintain high school eligibility
Cannot be 19 on or before August 1st of the current year
Must pass five courses the previous semester and be currently taking five courses
Must not repeat courses for eligibility purposes for which credit has been previously awarded
Must attend school the day of the game, and

Eighth-grade students who become 14 years of age by August 1st are eligible for sub-varsity athletics at the high school they would attend.
Any student academically ineligible for the winter sports tryouts will remain ineligible for the entire winter season.
Students must complete and turn in the following forms before trying out for a sports team:
Virginia High School League Physical Form
Emergency Medical Form
Acknowledgement of Risk/Parent Consent Form/Insurance Notification
LCPS Athletic Training Rules/Acknowledgement of Athletic Handbook Rules and Regulations
