John 18:38
What is Truth
38 "What is truth?" Pilate asked. With this he went out again to the Jews and said, "I find no basis for a charge against him.
Mark 14:55-62
Truth Can Be Misunderstood
55 The chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin were looking for evidence against Jesus so that they could put him to death, but they did not find any. 56 Many testified falsely against him, but their statements did not agree.
57 Then some stood up and gave this false testimony against him: 58 “We heard him say, ‘I will destroy this temple made with human hands and in three days will build another, not made with hands.’” 59 Yet even then their testimony did not agree.
60 Then the high priest stood up before them and asked Jesus, “Are you not going to answer? What is this testimony that these men are bringing against you?” 61 But Jesus remained silent and gave no answer.
Again the high priest asked him, “Are you the Messiah, the Son of the Blessed One?”
62 “I am,” said Jesus. “And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven.”
John 16:13
The Holy Spirit Guides Us to Truth
13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.
John 14:6
Jesus is Truth
6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
What is Truth is a very good question?...When Pilate ask Jesus what is Truth, and had he believed Jesus and all the things Jesus taught and stands for, he would have let Him go...So Truth is much a belief as it is a tangible set of facts or evidence...So thinking about Truth and truths can get complicated...Truth can be confusing...Truth can be misunderstood...Truth can be something you do not want to believe...Put another way you do not have to or want to believe in something that is actually true... Different people can see the same Truth differently and in different ways...Some people are much less interested, for one reason or another, to find about the Truth or get to the Truth...
When Jesus was arrested by the Sanhedrin, they were not interested in the Truth...The Sanhedrin were not seeking the Truth...The Sanhedrin was looking for evidence against Jesus, so that they could put Him to death...Jesus' trial was a hostile, biased trial, and not an impartial one...The witnesses were seemingly hostile, that the Sanhedrin questioned and brought forth...But even their witnesses were confused and confusing, and their testimonies did not agree...
When the high priest stood up before them and asked Jesus, “What is this testimony that these men are bringing against you?"...The high priest the very one in charge of the Sanhedrin asks Jesus what is this testimony these witnesses are bringing against you...The Sanhedrin itself, does not know (really) why He has been arrested and why they even have Him there in front of them...They really have no proper charges on or against Him...And yet, they are the very ones who had Him arrested...They are looking for a way to put Him to death, with no reason...Even Pilate later would say, that he could find no basis or law that was broken by Jesus...Jesus was on trial for telling the truth, teaching about Truth, and being the Truth...The Sanhedrin have the Truth standing right in front of them, and they are confused about many things, and they do not even recognize the Truth...
I do not think how people look at the Truth and search for Truth has changed much since Jesus' time...What is Truth is a great question...Today we have theories on truth...I think the Truth is something the mind is always seeking, but our own personal brain seems to filter out from our past experiences, our rationalizations and our biases the truths that we believe in...And our mind is always seeking the Truth, because of the Holy Spirit...And some truths are personal...Truth most often is thought of as a fact or something that is meant to be what you see or hear...It is equal to reality, like grass is green...
The brain and heart want to find the Truth...I am sure many of the times we do not even notice this...Unless we think and reflect on Truth and our truths, we do it without noticing them...When our mind asks any question, it wants the Truth...Jesus teaches that the Holy Spirit, that is in us, is always searching and seeking these Truth(s)...The Holy Spirit will guide us to all Truths...
A Man stood up two thousand years ago and said I AM Truth, I AM the Way, and I AM Life...I believe Him...There is One Absolute Truth...And I think He is One Wise Complicated Man...Truth, seeking the Truth, and finding the Truth maybe the very purpose of our lives on earth...A Complex, Complicated Man, confuses me, because of His Complexities and Mysteries...
