John 8:31-36
God's Son Sets You Free
31To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, "If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."
33They answered him, "We are Abraham's descendants and have never been slaves of anyone. How can you say that we shall be set free?"
34Jesus replied, "I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. 35Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. 36So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.
Matthew 6:25-27
Do Not Worry
25"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? 26Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?
John 14:27
Peace
27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
John 14:1
Trust in God, Trust also in Jesus
1 “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me.
Matthew 11:28-30
His Yoke is Easy
28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Their is an old hymn by James Rowe and Howard E. Smith called "Love Lifted Me."...It is about Jesus, the Master of the Sea...When we are sinking in sin and despair He is there...His Love for us, can lift us up from troubled and the weary waters...When nothing else can help us, His love can lift us and get us where we need to be...His love brings a peace to our lives that only He can bring...His love makes our souls sing out...He lifts a giant weight from us with His love, when we trust in Him...And when we truly know Him, His truth and His truths will set us free...
In one of His odd teachings (and I find many odd, because of His great wisdom, and my little understanding of His eternal things), He tells us not to worry...Well, this is very hard for me...My Mother always told me my Great Grandmother was a great worrier, and my Dad too, knew how to worry...So worrying seems to come natural in my family...I worry about everything...But that is not what He teaches us...He tells us not to worry (so this is hard for me)...He tells us not to let our hearts be troubled, but to trust in God, but to also trust in Him...When we trust in Him this giant weight on our shoulders has been lifted from our backs...It is like walking through a wet and muddy field that is a mile long and your boots are heavy and weighted with mud and you are exhausted from the long walk -but finally you are out of the quagmire...Now worrying is like going right back into that mile long muddy field again...It is like putting that excess weight back on your shoulders and being crushed again...
His Love lifts us and these weights, these troubles, these sins from our lives...Do you really want to go back out into the deep, wet, muddied field?...Do you want to put that excess weight back on your shoulders, and walk around with it, the rest of your life?...
When we trust in His Father, and also in Him -all of us who are weighted down, weary, and burdened -He says "I will give you rest."...He winds up carrying the things that are very tough for us (to carry) in our lives...His love lifts these weights, these wearies, and these burdens from us...What good is there believing and trusting in Him, if we don't even allow Him to do the things He says He can and will do for us, because of His LOVE...
