You’ll lead a team of level designers, overseeing the ideation, design and creation of all map level content. The ideal candidate has demonstrated ability in crafting unique gameplay spaces and combat encounters, is organized and self-motivated, and has a passion for supporting and guiding a team through development.
Responsibilities:
Recruit, manage and mentor the Level Design team, sharing and guiding the team in best practices and principles, and ensuring alignment with goals and quality standards.
Establish standards by working directly in-engine creating blockouts and encounters to prove out gameplay while building the Level Design team.
Cooperate closely with the Lead Level Artist and Lead Environment Artist, ensuring overall cohesion and vision is being maintained.
Coordinate with the Lead Quest Designer on quest-relevant level needs and spaces.
Oversee process and workflow pipelines for Level Design across relevant disciplines and departments.
Set and share best practices for design, documentation, tooling and metrics.
Cooperate with fellow Leads across our cross-functional development teams, ensuring alignment with our Level Design vision and goals.
Responsible for delivering fun, unique, and accessible gameplay spaces that achieve both gameplay and visual excellence.
Ensure functional and visual consistency across both hand-crafted and procedurally generated environments.
Qualifications
At least 6+ years of experience in level design in AAA game development.
At least 2+ years of experience in a management or lead position in the industry.
Experience with building game levels using 3D tools (UE, Unity, Maya, Blender, or similar).
Expertise in game design systems and level design elements and how they align.
Ability to use all elements of the game world, including level geometry, texturing, lighting, sound and VFX to craft unique player experiences.
Strong ability to problem solve both collaboratively and independently.
Strong written and verbal communication skills. .
Curiosity, kindness and a positive and professional can-do attitude.
