Scott Field Drummatic Art
Creating Art from Music
Scott Field creates artworks from playing the drums - each painting is unique to the song played and each beat and drum creates a distinctive pattern, with each drop of paint reflecting the energy and movement of the music performance.

A brief history...
"In 2004, I had a moment of inspiration when drumming after cutting my finger... After visiting the Tate Modern I imagined turning my music into visual art by feeding paint to my drum sticks. I worked with West Suffolk College Art students to trial the idea (pictured), performing it at Bury St Edmunds Gallery. It received a lot of press coverage from the BBC and ITV and as a follow up to that, I performed it for Children in Need outside the Forum in Norwich- but the paint was too cold so not enough came out to show up well on camera!
In 2012, I had another go with my band ‘The Colour’, with whom I released two original songs- a charity song celebrating Norwich City Football Club (with the Canaries' green and yellow colour scheme), and London's Calling for the London 2012 Olympics (with the five colours of the Olympic rings).
But alas, life and my career in the fire service took over again…
So, here we are in 2022- through a conversation at Harrods of Hingham I was asked to perform it again at the Dragonslayer Festival, and received sponsorship from Hahnemuele artist papers to create artwork created from music, for sale for the first time."
2011-2012... The Colour
March 2012 Music Video for 'London's Calling' by The Colour
Capturing the excitement of the Olympics coming to London. A call to the athletes from around the world, paint in the olympic colours flew from Scott's drum sticks in this alternative anthem.
July 2011 Music Video for 'Who Are Ya' by The Colour.
Featuring Bryan Gunn, the song was a tribute to the Canaries, in aid of Bryan Gunn's Leukaemia Appeal. After getting covered in green and yellow paint flung from Scott's drum sticks, Gunny said 'this is probably the craziest thing I've done for my Charity'. The song was touted to become the new Norwich City Football team anthem.
You can still get hold of the single here. Note due to the closure of Byan Gunn's appeal, all proceeds will now go to the Big C, Norfolk's Cancer Charity
