Martin Pigg (Born in 1982) lives and works in Norfolk. In 2001 Martin studied Arboriculture and graduated from the highly comended "Merrist wood college" in Surrey. During his studies Martin unknowingly whittled his Maquettes and with ecouragement held a hugely successful solo exhibition in 2003.
Martin is Self taught and carves instinctivly creating minimalist style pieces of work with strong contrasts, playing with light, lines and textures. The rigor and sensitivity of his shapes are in harmony with the nobility of a living material.
The contemporary spirit of his work allows him to find his place in various places around the world including a commission for Holland Park Kensington. centrepiece sculpture for Chelsea flower show Gold winning garden by Richard Beales. Centrepiece sculpture for the Hampton court flower show silver guilt winning garden by Sadie Stowell. Centrepiece sculpture for the Norwich garden, International garden show Koblenz. Award Winning sculpture at the Southwold sculpture competition in Suffolk as well as International private collectors in Dubai, Guernsey, America etc.
Besides that load of ol' waffle, I cut holes in bits of wood and try to make it look nice.
