'From Expectation to Expressionism'

"My real awakening came after my aneurysm, which appeared to spark something deep and reflective within me. My years spent modelling and as a muse left me with a prolific portfolio of material to use as imagery, whilst my reflection on my life opened a new and positive outlook."

"My first book Expectation,' A Life Half Lived' was an outpouring, but the cathartic outcome crossed over into my new found desire to create. The paintings you see in this exhibition are a culmination of that self reflection, self awareness and awakening... my survival of the years half Lived now inspire me to live the life I now live."

'Glass' was the first in a new series of colourful textured paintings started in 2019 after Cheryl's recovery from her aneurism. This new style was developed from self portraits using photoshop.

'Release' wins critical acclaim

Inspired by the story of Moses, a young man who escaped his abusive white father (who had raped his black mother), this pair of paintings won her acclaim from the 'Black Lives Matter' movement and was exhibited as part of Norfolk Black History Month. Cheryl then developed a painting representing her own release from demons of the past.
