“A bright sunny day and free time will find me outside and under the sky, seeking the stillness and peace which comes from connecting with the outdoors.
My work reflects my desire to find myself present in the landscape, to feel that precious sense of belonging and to remind me of the importance of nature and the earth - where we all come from, and ultimately return to.
My paintings derive from snapshots of memory – of a time or place which instilled a sense of beauty, awe, placement, calm reflection – a moment of joy.”
Charlotte Scott is based in a small village on the Norfolk/Suffolk border. She was raised and grew up in this landscape, and many of the pieces in this collection are East Anglian in origin.
Graduate of the Norwich School of Art, Charlotte has celebrated a love of colour and form through painting all her adult life, with her sense of joy in the experience of being outdoors reflected in all her work.
Travel is another of Charlotte’s passions, which is why you will also find one or two very un-Norfolk mountains and far off seascapes amongst this exhibition!
Whether you are crossing fields, hillwalking in the Lake District, or standing with your feet in the surf, it is all part of the experience of Crossing the Land.
