I started painting at the age of 29 after accidentally coming across a small book entitled “Starting with Watercolour” by Rowland Hilder. Being passionate about boats and the East Coast in particular, this was the subject matter I chose to pursue. I became a full time painter at the age of 55 and I'm now well known for my atmospheric watercolours and oils.
I have exhibited widely in Gt. Britain, as well as in France and the USA, and have had many one man shows, including one in Paris. In early 2018 I was featured artist at the respected Francis Iles Gallery in Rochester, Kent. In London he is represented by the Alexander Miles Gallery. I'm a member of The Society of East Anglian Watercolourists, Felixstowe Art Group, and The East Anglian Group of Marine Artists.
When I'm not painting or running workshops I try to get out on my yacht “Selene” gathering reference material and soaking up the inimitable and ever changing East Coast atmosphere.
