I was born in Cheshire but lived and worked in many places including Nottinghamshire, Yorkshire, Kenya and Guatemala before settling in Norfolk. I tried a variety of professions like teacher, water engineer and Health and Safety adviser before taking early retirement. I now enjoy my hobbies of horse riding and of course writing, and voluntary work in the local community. I spent several years living near Hadrian's wall as a child and a later holiday there when lockdown was eased gave me the idea for a series of crime novels based at Birdoswald Fort (known as Banna by the Romans) during the Roman era.
