Connecting Three Notes on a String Scales

Connecting Three Notes on a String Scales

Learning the entire guitar neck seems like an incredibly hard task for most guitar players. There is one exercise that opened the world of the guitar neck to me more than any other—three notes on a string scales. The idea is simple—play a major scale playing three notes on every string of the guitar. Scales played in this way fall into seven forms, one starting on each note of the major scale. This workout shows how these seven forms connect on the neck to create incredibly fast runs to use in a rock style.

The power workouts are hands-on time with your guitar to practice a specific technique or skill.

This workout covers…

• Three Notes on a String Scales

• Connecting Scales to Cover the Entire Guitar Neck

• Incorporating Hammer-Ons and Pull-Offs for Speed

• Learning the Notes on the Entire Guitar

If you’re ready to work on a technique that will expand your knowledge of the neck, as well as give you incredibly fast scale runs to use in your soloing, then let’s get started! - Steve Krenz

Steve plays a Gibson USA Les Paul Supreme in this lesson.
