Surrender

Surrender

Lead Singer for The Kicks, Jordan Phillips, shows you how to play “Surrender” by the classic rock band, Cheap Trick. “Surrender” was Cheap Trick’s first single off of their 1978 album, Heaven Tonight, and it paved the way for huge success in the US and Japan. “Surrender” was also listed on Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. In this lesson, Jordan will focus on the live version of this song, off of Cheap Trick at Budokan.

Jordan plays a Gibson Custom Les Paul R7 Goldtop in the lesson.

Jordan Phillips was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. He picked up a guitar when he was 10 years old. Since then he has been writing, recording, and touring playing rock and roll music. In 2004, he relocated to Nashville, TN where he is now the lead singer and guitar player in the pop/rock band The Kicks. The Kicks have recorded 2 albums (with their 3rd releasing in September 2012) and have spent the past 4 years in North America and Central America, touring and opening for the likes of John Mayer, Los Lonely Boys, Rooney, and Hot Chelle Rae. They also appeared on Austin City Limits in 2011.
